Romados one of Montreal’s most notable restaurants.

 sells 600 chickens a day

The name Romados is an anagram of the last names of founding partners, who started the business together in 1994 along with the help of their families. The original concept was to build a family run business that would make and sell traditional Portuguese food specialties in house. At first the bakery was the main focus of the original business, with large ovens, bread and pastry making equipment imported from Portugal filling almost every available square foot of the restaurant on Rue Rachel.

Within a few years it was determined that Fernando Machado would become the sole proprietor and as a result the business quickly took off becoming a phenomenon in the Plateau district and the Island of Montreal. As the restaurant grew Fernando added rotisserie chicken to the menu to complement the selection of house made Portuguese specialties and baked goods.
